Streaming with Captivate

With the 5.7 update to Captivate, you are now able to stream directly from Captivate.  When setting up your live streaming broadcasts on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Switchboard Live, Twitch, or using a Generic RTMP service, you'll often need to locate your unique stream ID and URL.  This ID and URL allows the streaming platform to identify and connect to Captivate to broadcast on your desired platform.  In this guide, we will walk you through the process of finding your stream for each of these platforms and how to set up within Captivate.

YouTube

  1. Sign into your YouTube account and go to the YouTube Studio.
  2. Select "Go Live" under the top right of the Navigation bar.
  3. Under the "Stream" tab, you'll find your stream key and URL, which is your stream ID.  Ensure that you keep this key secure.

Facebook

  1. Log in to your Facebook account and go to your Facebook Page or Profile.
  2. Click on "Live" in the composer section to start setting up your live stream.
  3. In the "Stream Key" section, you'll see your stream key, which is your Stream ID.  Keep this confidential.
  4. Click advanced Settings to expose your URL.

Twitch

  1. Log in to your Twitch account and navigate to your Dashboard.
  2. Click on the "Settings" tab, followed by the "Stream Key."
  3. Here you will find your stream key and URL, which is your unique stream ID.  Keep this key private and do not share it with anyone.

Switchboard Live

  1. Sign into your Switchboard Live account and navigate to the "Destinations" tab.
  2. Select the destination you want to stream to (e.g., Facebook, YouTube, etc.).
  3. In the destination settings, you'll find the stream key or stream URL, depending on the platform. This key or URL serves as your stream ID.

Generic RTMP

    1. If you are using a Generic RTMP service, the process may vary depending on the platform or software you are using.
    2. Typically, you'll need to go to your streaming software (e.g., OBS Studio, XSplit) and access the settings related to stream output.
    3. Look for the RTMP section, where you'll find fields for the server URL and stream key. The server URL, combined with the stream key, forms your stream ID.

Warning: Remember, your stream ID is unique to your account and stream.  It is crucial to keep it confidential to prevent unauthorized access to your stream.  Additionally, it's worth noting that platforms may occasionally update their interfaces, so the exact steps to find your stream ID might change slightly over time.  In such cases, refer to the platform's official documentation or support resources for the most up to date instructions.
