Setting up your Fusion 3

  1. Confirm that all the listed items are included in the box.
  2. (Optional) Securely mount the Fusion 3 unit onto your production rack using the six screw mount panels. There are three screw mounts on each side of the unit.
  3. Insert the power supply cable (included in box) into the power supply port of the unit. It is best practices to connect your Fusion 3 into a surge protected power extension.
  4. Connect a monitor using the Fusion 3’s Display Port. This monitor will serve as a preview for the unit’s system interface.
  5. The Fusion 3 is a computer device with its own Windows 11 Pro 64-bit OS (Operating System). You may connect any desired peripherals (mouse and keyboard) using any of the USB ports that will allow you to operate and navigate the system interface.
  6. Your Fusion 3 unit contains Captivate and the NewBlue Application Manager pre-installed. The software can be found on your desktop or using the Windows OS search tools.
  7. Captivate is the software platform to build, operate, and output the graphics for your production. Note: Check out your Captivate Application Manager or our website downloads page to get the latest version of the software.
  8. Your license key for activating Captivate software should be provided in a text document on your desktop. The following article is a walkthrough for creating an account and activating the software: Activate Captivate

Output Details

Please find a link to a diagram outlining the rear ports and workflows for your Fusion 2, here

  • SMA Antenna Connectors (1T1R)
    • These ports are compatible with a WiFi antenna which is included in the box. This will allow you to operate the system and software with online capabilities. The wireless internet connection is not recommended for NDI workflows

Note: For NDI workflows, the RJ-45 port will provide a stable connection.

  • NDI
    • Captivate Broadcast can output all your channels of graphics via Newtek’s Network Device Interface (NDI) protocol. Connecting your Fusion 3 to your local network using the RJ-45 port (with Ethernet cable) and setting Captivate to output with NDI will generate a discoverable NDI source for each channel created within Captivate.
  • SDI (Only Fusion 3 SDI and Fusion 3 Extreme Models)
    • Fusion 3 SDI - This model contains a BlackMagic DeckLink Duo 2 card to support 3G-SDI video workflows.
    • Fusion 3 Extreme - This model contains a AJA Corvid 44 card to support 12G-SDI workflows.
    • Captivate takes advantage of this hardware by providing an option to output via SDI.
    • When the SDI output method is selected within Captivate, a dialog box will appear with a setup diagram for your cable setup.
    • Align your SDI cables to match the diagram on the dialog box. Once the connections have been established and confirmed from this menu, the playlist interface will reconfigure to display your Key and Fill graphics setup.
  • 3.5mm Audio Jack
    • These audio ports (3 total) can be used to receive the Fusion 3’s system audio with an audio device.
