RGB Shift

RGB Shift separates the red, green and blue elements within an image and moves them independently for an edgy, restless look.

Setup

First determine which channels are to be affected using the Red, Green, and Blue check boxes and Color Shift control. Then determine the maximum displacement with the Horizontal and Vertical controls. Finally, set the motion behavior with the remaining controls. The motion alternates between a quiet, gentle state and sudden, unpredictable, bursts of activity.

  • Horizontal and Vertical sets the distance each channel can be shifted from its origin.
  • Crop increases the size of the image, hiding any border garbage you may not want to see.
  • Color Shift rotates the three primary colors through the color spectrum , so that other colors besides red, green and blue can be achieved.
  • Velocity controls the distance an agitation of the motion. Lower values keep movement smooth. Higher values make a twitchy effect.
  • Quiet Level sets the range of motion between Bursts. Turn this all the way up for constant motion.
  • Burst Rate sets the frequency of sudden bursts of motion.
  • Burst Period sets the percentage of time a Burst will hold before releasing back to the Quiet Level.
  • Red, Green, and Blue checkboxes determine which of the three channels to include in the effect.
  • Fill Mode controls how the edges of the image are treated, as this effect moves the original image from center. Fill Borders uses a mirror of the image to fill the empty space. Stretch Channels incrementally stretches the image at the edges, resulting in a rubber-band feel. To keep some of your image steady, uncheck one or more of the channels, so they are not included in the effect.
