Grouping

Grouping allows you to group together different paragraphs. That way you can move, scale or keyframe paragraphs as one object. This also lets you apply effects to all of the paragraphs in the group at the same time. This saves time when resizing and manipulating objects and makes it convenient to change blend modes of multiple elements without the hassle of doing so individually. You can ungroup objects at any time to make changes to individual paragraphs as well. Groups are indicated by a blue bounding box.

Creating Groups

To create groups, select multiple paragraphs by holding the Command key on Mac or Ctrl key on Windows and click on multiple paragraphs in the timeline or in the workspace area. Right click and select the Group option.

This is how grouping from the workspace area looks:

To Ungroup, follow the same steps. The Group option will now say “Ungroup.”

If you would like to make changes to a paragraph that has been grouped, you can view the grouped sub-paragraphs by clicking on the collapse/expand arrow and make changes.

Keyframing Groups

Once paragraphs are grouped, keyframing can be enabled by going to the Objects tab and checking the “Turn on Keyframing” box. Groups can be keyframed the same way that individual paragraphs can.

Adding Effects and Transitions

Adding effects and transitions works the same way for groups as it does for paragraphs. The advantage of adding these to groups is that you can apply an effect or transition on a group of paragraphs instead of doing it individually. Simply browse effects and transitions in the Library and double-click to apply or drag it down to the group in the timeline.
