Follow the steps in this article to customize a scene's lighting, camera angle, camera width, and more.
- Open a graphic in Titler Pro.
Tip: For details about using Titler Pro with a video editor, see one of the articles in the Add graphics to projects in your video editor section of our help center.
- Click the Attributes > Scene > Light & Cam tab.
- What do you want to do next? See the following sections for details.
Tip: You can use keyframes to change lighting in a design. See Animate objects with keyframes for details.
Customize the camera angle
Click the Wide Angle slider or arrows, or double-click the value and enter a new value, to distort objects as if they are viewed through a wide-angle lens.
Customize the camera depth
- If the Depth of Field settings isn't already enabled, click the Enable button in the Depth of Field section to add camera focus and blur attributes to your design.
- Expand the Depth of Field drop-down list, then click the sliders or arrows, or double-click a value and enter a new value, to customize any of the following settings:
- Focus Distance: Sets the distance from the camera that is in focus.
- Aperture: Sets the size of the focus area. The larger the number, the tighter the focus area.
- Blur Level: Sets the amount of blur applied to areas that are out of focus.
Preview and add preset lighting effects
Preset lighting effects are the easiest way to add dynamic lighting to a design, but you can still customize the attributes of a preset lighting effect.
Tip: You can also add a lighting effect without previewing it. To do so, select a lighting effect from the Preset drop-down list in the Light Settings section of the Light & Cam tab.
- Open the Library panel and select Lighting from the drop-down list at the top of Library panel.
- Hover your pointer over a lighting effect to preview that effect in your design.
- Double-click a lighting effect to add that effect to your design.
When you add a lighting effect to an object, the Attributes >
Scene > Light & Cam tab opens, which includes editable attributes for the selected effect. See the Customize lighting effects section below for more information.
Note: You can change the preset settings, but if you select a different preset, your changes to the previously selected preset will not be saved.
Customize lighting effects
You can include up to three lights in a design and set the color of any light. Depending on the type of light, you may be able to set the light's direction and distance.
Tip: If you make changes to a preset effect and want to reinstate the preset's original settings, click the Reset button next to the Preset drop-down list.
- Select a Type of light from the drop-down list in the desired Light section (Light 1, Light 2, or Light 3). Types include:
- Point: Casts light in all directions from the position you set. (Tip: To create unique lighting effects, move the emission point between letters and behind objects.)
- Directional: Casts a constant beam of light across a scene from the direction you set.
- Spotlight: Illuminates a specific section of a scene from the position and direction you set.
- To adjust a light's settings, do one of the following in the Light Settings section:
- To use the settings in the Light Settings section of the Attributes >
Scene > Light & Cam tab, click a setting's X, Y, and Z sliders or arrows, or double-click a value and enter a new value, to change qualities of the light. - To use light settings controls in the workspace, complete the following steps.
- Select an object in the workspace or timeline.
- Click a light layer heading, such as Light 1, in the Attributes > Scene > Light & Cam tab. A light settings globe appears over the object in the workspace.
- To change the light's angle, click and drag the line inside the light settings globe up, down, or around the object.
- To change the light's brightness, click and drag the line inside the light settings globe away from or toward the center of the globe, making the line longer or shorter.
- Repeat the previous steps if you want to adjust other light layers in the design.
Tips:
- Adjust the Soften setting to gradually blend the edges of a spotlight into a scene. For example, set Soften to 0 to create a hard edge.
- Lower brightness on a Point light to localize the light.
- If the light turns gray, that means the light is behind the objects in the design.
- To use the settings in the Light Settings section of the Attributes >
- To change the color of a light, click the color picker and click a color on your screen, or click a color swatch and complete any of the following steps in the Pick Color dialog:
- Click a color on the swatch.
- Click Hex or Dec, then enter the desired Hex or Dec values.
- Click the color picker, then click a color on your screen. (Press ESC to cancel the color picker.)
- Click and drag the horizontal sliders to adjust the selected color's hue and opacity.
