VEGAS Stream can curate and display live social media posts and reactions in your graphics, including Twitter feeds, Facebook Live and YouTube Live comments, Facebook reaction polls, and more.
- If you haven't already, open a project in VEGAS Stream or create a new one.
- Go to the Setup menu, click on the Graphics tab and select Add Graphic(s) from Library.
Most of the graphics families should include a Social Media graphic; locate the one that matches the graphic family you are using, or pick a different one of your choosing. Click the graphic to highlight it, then click Done to add it to your project.
You will see that the graphic has been added to the Graphics section of your Setup page. There will be a drop-down menu labelled Graphics Control. By default this is set to Manual Entry; in this mode you will have the comment format but will need to manually enter all of the information.
This mode would be good for recreating a comment that is no longer posted online, or for making something that looks like a social media comment but isn't actually posted online.
To automatically retrieve social media comments, click on the Graphics Control dropdown and go to Social > Social Pro and select the social media service that you want to use.
NOTE: Since the Social Media graphics can be used with multiple social media services, you will most likely get a warning saying that "one or more elements are not connected to a graphic controller." In the case of Social Media graphics this warning can usually be ignored, as there will be elements in the design that are not applicable for all services (Facebook comments won't use the Retweet counter, for example). Any design elements that are not needed will be hidden. To find out more information please see the section on Connecting Design Elements. - Click Done to close the Setup window. You will now see the Social Pro interface in the Controller panel.
-
In the Social Pro interface, click a social media button for type of data you want in your graphic.
- Facebook Live
- Facebook Posts
- YouTube Live
Tip: If you want to access and curate your social media feed from your Internet browser instead of from Stream's Social Pro panel, click the arrow icon in the upper right corner of the Controller panel.
Click the Open in Browser button to open the Social Pro controls in a web browser on the computer where Stream is running. You can also use the controls on another computer on the same network; simply copy the URL shown in the window and paste it into the web browser on another computer.
NOTE: the second computer must be on the same local network as the computer running Stream. - Click the Login button. A new login / authorization window opens.
If you're using your Internet browser instead of Stream's Social Pro panel and you don't see the login / authorization window, your internet browser's pop-up blocker may have prevented the window from opening. Check your browser for blocked pop-ups and open the blocked window or temporarily disable your browser's pop-up blocker.
