Preview and use graphics from the graphics library

Captivate's Graphics Library includes collections of graphics that are installed with Captivate. This also includes custom graphics you have created and saved to the graphics library.

Captivate's graphics library includes graphics collections when you're working in the playout interface or the Designer. When you're working in the Designer, its Library includes collections of styles, effects, transitions, shapes, and lighting that allow you to quickly apply presets to design layers. 

Adding graphics from the graphics library 

The graphics library contains collections of graphics families that follow a consistent style and use case. These graphics can be used as a learning to tool to discover different methods for creating graphics that behave and look a certain way. 

  1. Open a new or existing project in Captivate.

    Note: The first time you open Captivate, a new project with a single channel opens in Captivate's playout interface. See Channel panel management to learn more about adding or removing additional channels.

  2. In Captivate's playout interface, click the Graphics Library panel's Expand icon-library-expand.png icon to open the Graphics Library.

    Tip: If the Graphics Library panel is not visible, choose View > Graphics Library. A checkmark appears next to the Graphics Library command when the Graphics Library panel is visible.

  3. Double-click a category folder to view graphics in that collection.
  4. Hover the pointer over a graphic's thumbnail image to preview that graphic in the Preview panel.
  5. To add a graphic to the channel, double-click a graphic, or click and drag a graphic to the channel.
  6. To update the selected graphic's placeholder text and image values for a broadcast, see Update variables in live graphics layers.

To customize the selected graphic with preset from the Library, click the Edit Graphic button in the Preview panel to open the graphic in the Designer, then complete the following steps.

Adding presets and graphics from the library

The Designer library shares the graphics content with the playout interfaces graphics library, however the designer library contains a variety of presets that may be used to add motion and unique styles to the design layers of any graphic. 

1. Select a layer in your graphic that you want to customize with presets from the Library.

2. Click the Expand icon-expand-library.png button to expand the Library panel.

3. Select a type of preset from the drop-down list at the top of the Library panel. The available presets are:

Effects — Create animations, warps, and more. For more details, see Add effects to design layers.

Lighting — Control a scene's lighting, camera angle, camera width, and more. For more details, see Customize lighting and camera settings.

Shapes — Add predesigned circles and rectangles. For more details, see Add and modify shapes layers.

Styles — Control the look and feel of 2D and 3D layers, including font, alignment, kerning, color, transparency, bevel, extrusion, and more. For more details, see Add styles to design layers.

Transitions — Add and customize transitions to create in and out animations, fly-ins, warps, zooms, and more. For more details, see Add transitions to design layers.

4.If necessary, double-click a category folder to view presets in that collection.

5.Hover your pointer over a thumbnail image to preview that preset on the selected design layer in your graphic.

6. Double-click a thumbnail image to apply that preset to your design layer.select_graphic.gif

7. Repeat the previous steps to further customize the same design layer or others.

8. When you're finished, click the Keep changes btn-keep-changes.png button in the bottom-right corner of the Timeline panel to save the graphic to your project's current session.

Tip: If you want to reuse or customize this graphic in future projects, you can save the graphic to your computer to save the graphic to the graphics library.
