Add and modify text layers

When you customize graphics in the Designer, you can customize the scale, position, kerning, and style of full strings of text, and individual characters.

Add text

Open a graphic in the Designer.

  1. Click the Add Text button at the top of the Title Designer workspace and choose Static text or Variable text to add a new text layer.

    Note: Text variables can be updated manually or data sources when broadcasting a graphic. For more information, see Create variables in graphics.

  2. Enter the desired text in the new text layer.

Edit text

  1. Open a graphic in the Designer.
  2. Double-click a text field in the Designer canvas or timeline workspace.
  3. Update the text field within the layer.

Tip: Any text that was added as a variable or enabled to be one can be customized from the Global Tab.

Customize text layers

  1. Open a graphic in the Designer.
  2. Click a text layer in the Designer canvas or timeline workspace. A green bounding box appears around selected paragraphs.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Select presets from the drop-down list at the top of the Library panel.
    • Customize the paragraph with the settings in the Properties panel within the Layers tab.

  4. Click another area of the workspace to deselect the text layer.

Customize characters

  1. Open a graphic in the Designer.
  2. Double-click a text layer in the Designer canvas or timeline workspace.
  3. To select one or more characters, do one of the following:
    • Click inside a text layer and drag the cursor over one or more characters.
    • Hold SHIFT + arrow keys to select one or more characters.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Select presets from the drop-down list at the top of the Library panel.
    • Customize the paragraph with the settings in the Properties panel within the Layers tab.

  5. Click twice on another area of the timeline workspace to deselect the characters and text layer.
