Most Titler Live products let you output graphics to your ATEM via SDI and HDMI.
We recommend connecting via SDI because it delivers superior quality graphics. SDI sends both key and fill channels, so the alpha channel is predefined. With HDMI, you need to key-out the background. In addition, your HDMI video feed follows your display adapter settings, so you may need to adjust your display settings to avoid resolution and framerate issues.
Note: SDI and HDMI are not available in Titler Live Express.
Add a Titler Live SDI source
- Open Titler Live and create a playlist of graphics that you want to include in your ATEM production. For details, please see Manage Channel Panel.
- Connect two SDI outputs from your computer's output card to your ATEM's inputs.
- In Titler Live, set your output to SDI.
- Open ATEM Software Control and the Downstream Keys palette.
- Select Titler Live’s SDI input from the Fill Source and Key Source drop-down lists. (The following illustration shows Camera 2 is Titler Live's SDI fill source and key source.)
- If the Titler Live SDI source monitor is blank, in ATEM, click Settings
> General and make sure the option selected in the Set video standard to drop-down list matches Titler Live’s output settings.
Your source is now ready. You can manage the Titler Live source with the Downstream Key 1 (DSK 1) or Downstream Key 2 (DSK 2) controls.
Use ATEM Settings from Titler Live for Graphics through HDMI
- Open Titler Live and create a playlist of graphics that you want to include in your ATEM production. For details, please see Channel panel management.
- Connect an HDMI cable from your computer to one of your ATEM's HDMI input ports.
- In Titler Live, set your output to HDMI from Video Out.
- A small window will a appear as the HDMI monitor source.
- Use the Settings to switch the Key color to be used for Chroma Keying.
- Drag this source window to a second monitor and double click it to full screen the HDMI source.
Important! Connecting an second monitor to your ATEM's HDMI Out port will make that monitor a preview monitor for all your HDMI inputs from the ATEM. Switching to the input source from your ATEM switcher (the input source is connected via HDMI to your computer) should show a second display capture for that computer.
- If the Titler Live HDMI source monitor is blank, in ATEM, click Settings > General and make sure the option selected in the Set video standard to drop-down list matches your computer’s display settings, in Display Adapter Properties on Windows or in System Preferences > Displays on Mac. (Although Titler Live renders graphics according to your project settings, your HDMI video feed follows your display adapter settings.)

Using the ATEM Settings from Titler Live
The ATEM Settings within Titler Live automatically Chroma keys graphics and relies on this keying to efferently overlay transitions and other dynamic graphics on your ATEM production.
- Navigate to the Settings at the top of the window.
- Select ATEM Settings.
- Enable the check box so that Titler Live can sync with your ATEM device.
- Enable Send HMDI out to ATEM Upstream Keyer.
- Select the Camera to be keyed out from ATEM Key Video In. This selection should match the ATEM input that is connected to your computer.
- Enabling Automate instructs the ATEM to automatically Chroma Key as Titles are brought on air.
You are now ready to overlay live animated graphics on your ATEM production
