When you customize graphics in the Designer, you can add effects to design layers and customize those effects to create animations, warps, and more. Effects include simple filters to complex compositing elements.
Tip: You can use keyframes to change effects in a graphic. See Animate design layers with keyframes for details.
Add new effects
- In Titler Live's playout interface, select a graphic layer from the Layers workspace, then click the Graphic Design button in the Preview panel.
- In the Designer, select a design layer in the canvas or Timeline workspace.
- Open the Library panel and select Effects from the drop-down list at the top of Library panel.
- To browse effects in the library:
- Double-click a folder to browse effects within that category.
- Hover your pointer over an effect to preview the effect on your design layer in the canvas. (A design layer must be selected to preview the effect.)
- To add an effect to the design layer that you previously selected, double-click an effect.
Tip: You can drag and drop an effect onto a design layer in the canvas or Timeline workspace.
When you add an effect to a design layer, the Properties > Layer > Effect tab opens, which includes editable attributes for the selected effect. See the Customize effects section below for more information.
Customize effects
To access effects in a graphic, click a design layer in the Designer's canvas or Timeline workspace, then click the Properties > Layer > Effects tab.
Blend design layers
Blending modes determine how a design layer's color and fill interacts with any elements behind it. This is useful for compositing and creative goals.
Select an design layer in the Designer's canvas or Timeline workspace, then select one of the following blending modes from the Blending mode drop-down list in the Properties > Layer > Effects tab.
- Normal
- Hue
- Pop
- Screen
- Multiply
- Lighten
- Darken
- ColorDodge
- ColorBurn
- Negation
- Additive
- Mask
Isolate layers
Isolate a design layer in a graphic to prevent the design layer from intersecting or clipping into other design layers within the graphic.
Note: Isolated design layers render separately from other design layers. Enabling this will increase render times on that specific graphic.
Select an design layer in the Designer's canvas or Timeline workspace, then mark the Isolate Layer checkbox in the Properties > Layer > Effects tab.
Apply effect-specific attributes
Effect attributes appear in separate drop-down sections named for the effect that's applied to a design layer in your graphic.
Select a design layer in the Designer's canvas and Timeline workspace, then adjust any of the attributes that are available for an effect, or select predefined settings from the Preset drop-down list in the Properties > Layer > Effects tab.
Note: You can change preset settings, but if you select a different preset, your changes to the previously selected preset will not be saved.
