Elgato Stream Deck Set Up
Here are additional directions in case you were having issues setting up the Elgato Stream Deck in the Bitfocus Companion Setup article. You may need to re-launch as you will need to ensure Stream Deck is disabled fully on your system. You should only need to close your browser windows. All of your sources and work within the Button Configuration Board will be saved.
Note: In order to give the Companion application full control of your Stream Deck hardware, you must disable the Stream Deck software. Simply closing the application will not disable the Stream Deck software completely. Background processes still continue to run and the Stream Deck software runs at startup by default.
Disabling Stream Deck
Option 1 on Mac
1. Click the Stream Deck icon on the top right menu bar on your Home screen
2. Choose Quit Stream Deck.
Option 2 on Mac(Only if necessary)
1. Search to open the Activity Monitor.
2. Find and Click to Highlight StreamDeck.
2. Press the Stop Button at the top and choose Quit.
Note: The Stream Deck Application will automatically launch upon restart of your system. So we recommend you perform this task prior to opening Companion again when utilizing Stream Deck.
Option 1 on Win:
1. Click on the arrow in the bottom right of the bar menu on you home screen.
2. Click Stream Deck and Choose Quit.
Option 2 on Win(Only if necessary)
1. Search to open the Task Manager.
2. Find and Click to Highlight StreamDeck.
3. Select End Task.
Note:The Stream Deck Application will automatically launch upon restart of your system. So we recommend you perform this task prior to opening Companion again, when utilizing Stream Deck.
Enabling Stream Deck within Bitfocus Companion
1. Please Relaunch Companion and open the Configuration Wizard.
2. Click Next until you arrive on the USB Surface Detection Configuration window.
3. Select Use Companion Natively (Recommended) and Enable X-Keys USB Keypads if desired.
Note: If there is a need to assign Stream Deck buttons to other applications that don't support Companion natively, you can enable the Companion Stream Deck plugin. This allows assignment of some keys for Companion actions while reserving others for third-party apps.
4. Click Next until you reach the Review Settings window. Ensure your changes are bulleted and Apply and Finish.
Note: If your Stream Deck is still not connecting or drops connection for any reason, you can navigate to the Surfaces tab and Rescan USB.
