Set recording options

    1. Open a project or create a new project for a live event.
    2. Click Setup if Setup isn't already open.
    3. In Output, complete the steps in one of the following sections for type of recording that you want to set up.

      Record output

      1. Click Record Output to turn on the option to record the final output during a broadcast.

      2. Enter a File Location where the recording will be saved.
      3. Enter a descriptive File Name Prefix for the recording.

Note: If you create multiple recordings with the same project, VEGAS Stream will automatically append the file name with a unique character to avoid overwriting recordings.

      4. Select the file format you want to use.

      Record sources

      1. Click Record All Inputs (ISO) to turn on the option to record all connected video and audio sources during a broadcast.VEGAS_Recording_ISO.png

Important! Recordings may be limited by your system's hardware capabilities. If the output's performance drops, select the MPEG2 encoding option, as described later in this article. If the problem persists, reduce the number of video sources and audio sources in the project.

      2. Enter a File Location where the recording will be saved.
      3. Enter a descriptive File Name Prefix for the recording.

Note: If you create multiple recordings with the same project, VEGAS Stream will automatically append the file name with a unique character to avoid overwriting recordings.

      4. Select an Encoder from the drop-down list. The mpg2video encoder produces the highest quality recording, while the h264 encoder is less intensive on your computer's resources.

Important! If you select the mpg2video encoder and the quality of the live output degrades, stop the recording and select a different encoder.

    4. Click Done to close Setup, or click Next to continue customizing the project's settings.
    5. To save the project, close Setup, then choose File > Save As, name the project, select VEGAS Stream with Assets from the drop-down list, and click Save. For details, see Save and package VEGAS Stream projects to your computer.

To record a live event, see Record broadcasts.
